Avai 0-3 Fluminense: Fluminense on fire in big road win

Avai on Monday lost to Fluminense on a home defeat at Estadio da Ressacada. Both Avai and Fluminense arrived at the match with previous defeats in the league. Avai arrived at the match looking to pick up more points, following defeat to Fortaleza EC. Fluminense were beaten 2-0 in their previous match against America Mineiro. Avai are now in 19th place, with 28 points from 32 matches, while Fluminense sit in 4th, with 54 points from 32.

It was an impressive opening from Fluminense, when German Cano opened the rout on the 25 minute mark. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a goal from David Braz just before half-time to see out the first half 2-0.

Fluminense continued to apply pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Matheus Martinelli found the net on the 64 minute mark, leaving the final score at 3-0.

Substitutions for Avai included Marcinho, Lucas Silva, Nathan Palafoz de Sousa, Eduardo Biasi and Kazu for Kevin, Romulo dos Santos, Bissoli, William Pottker and Lucas Ventura, respectively. Fluminense brought on Felipe Melo, Alexandre Jesus, Matheus Martins, Willian and Michel Araujo, to replace Ganso, Yago Felipe, Matheus Martinelli, German Cano and Jhon Arias.

The referee booked Renato and Eduardo Biasi for Avai.

Avai will next play Palmeiras away, with Fluminense facing Botafogo at home.
