Paranaense 4-2 Bragantino: Athletico win six-goal thriller at home

Paranaense enjoyed a mesmerising home victory against Red Bull Bragantino at Arena da Baixada on Saturday. Paranaense were looking to pick up points after winning last match. Bragantino secured a point against Santos FC in their previous match. As the table looks today, Paranaense and Bragantino currently occupy 3rd and 10th spots in the table, with 24 points and 18 points respectively after 14 matches.

Paranaense started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, with an early goal from Erick in the 5th minute. Paranaense looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Luis Orejuela in the 16th minute to establish a 2-0. Paranaense then netted once more and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Romulo at the 23 minute mark, ending the first half 3-0.

Paranaense continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Hugo Moura found the net at the 67 minute mark. However, Bragantino weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Alerrandro in the 79th minute. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Lucas Evangelista in the 82nd minute to make it 4-2.

Substitutions for Paranaense included Pablo Siles, Khellven, Matheus Babi, Matheus Fernandes and John Mercado for Hugo Moura, Luis Orejuela, Vitor Ferreira, Vitor Bueno and Romulo, repectively. Bragantino brought on Alerrandro, Carlos Eduardo, Jose Hurtado, Miguel and Jadsom, to replace Jan Hurtado, Helinho, Aderlan, Hyoran and Raul.

There were bookings for Vitor Ferreira, Khellven, Vitor Bueno and Matheus Fernandes from Paranaense, and Helinho, for Bragantino.

Paranaense will next travel to Palmeiras, while Bragantino will face Botafogo at home.
