America 0-3 Bragantino: Early blitz from Independencia sets up the road win

America suffered a home defeat to Red Bull Bragantino on Monday at Independencia. America arrived at the match looking pick up points after losing their last match 1-0 to Internacional. Bragantino were coming off the back of a 4-0 win against Avai. After today’s result, America are in 17th place, with 18 points from 17 matches, while Bragantino sit in 8th, with 24 points from 17.

Bragantino started the first half well, with an early goal from Alerrandro in the 2nd minute. Bragantino looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a second effort from Alerrandro 7 minutes into the game to establish a 2-0. Bragantino then netted again and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Marcos Vinicios just before halftime to see out the first half 3-0. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 3-0.

Substitutions for America included Indio Ramirez, German Conti, Everaldo, Flavio and Marlon Matheus for Felipe Azevedo, Lucas Kal, Gustavinho, Luan Patrick and Danilo Avelar, repectively. Bragantino brought on Ramires, Jadsom, Helinho, Carlos Eduardo and Praxedes, to replace Miguel, Lucas Evangelista, Alerrandro, Marcos Vinicios and Raul.

There were bookings for Eder Ferreira and Luan Patrick from America. For Bragantino, Praxedes saw yellow.

Bragantino and America will next play at home to Fortaleza EC and Palmeiras respectively.
