America 0-0 Fluminense: Defenses on top in goal-less draw

Thursday’s fixture between America and Fluminense delivered a goalless draw at Independencia. Both teams came from defeats in their previous league games. America were looking to get back their winning ways after losing their last match 1-0 to São Paulo. Fluminense, on the other hand, were beaten 2-0 in the previous match against Atlético Goianense. After today’s result, both teams are on 15 points and occupy 12th and 10th places respectively after 12 matches.

Substitutions for America included Carlos Alberto, Patric, Pedrinho and Danilo Avelar for Everaldo, Raul Caceres, Aloisio and Marlon Matheus, repectively. Fluminense brought on John Kennedy, Nonato, Nathan and Alexandre Jesus for Yago Felipe, Wellington, Nino and Matheus Martins.

The referee booked five players. Everaldo, Carlos Alberto and Marlon Matheus from America, who saw yellow cards and Alexandre Egea, sent off with a red, as well as for Fluminense Nonato also seeing yellows.

America will next travel to Fortaleza EC, while Fluminense will face Avaí at home.
