Unión 1-5 River Plate: River Plate land first win of the season in style

River ease to a comfortable 5-1 win at Estadio 15 de Abril. Unión were looking to pick up points, following a 2-1 victory against Barracas Central. River were beaten 1-0 in the previous match against Colón. Following today’s result, Unión are in 21st place, with 4 points from 4 matches, while River sit in 10th, with 5 points from 4.

River didn’t take long to get on the score-sheet, when Braian Romero opened the rout, 16 minutes in to see out the first half 1-0.

River continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Enzo Fernandez found the net, at 59 minutes. River looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Julian Alvarez, at 73 minutes to establish a 3-0. However, Unión weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Mariano Peralta Bauer, 79 minutes in. However, River increased their lead 4-1 thanks to a goal from Agustin Palavecino in the 87th minute. River then scored again and increased their advantage thanks to a second effort from Julian Alvarez just before the final whistle to make it 5-1.

Substitutions for Unión included Francisco Gerometta, Ezequiel Martin Canete, Daniel Eduardo Juarez, Lucas Angel Esquivel and Matias Gallegos Panozzo for Federico Vera, Mauro Luna, Imanol Machuca, Kevin Zenon and Enzo Martin Roldan, repectively. River brought on Agustin Palavecino, Juan Quintero, Emanuel Mammana and Ezequiel Barco, to replace Nicolás De La Cruz, Braian Romero, Marcelo Herrera and Jose Paradela.

There were bookings for Imanol Machuca and Mauro Luna from Unión, and Nicolás De La Cruz, Enzo Perez and Marcelo Herrera, for River.

Unión will next play Boca away, with River facing Lanús at home.
