Lanús fell to an away defeat at the hands of River at Estadio Monumental Antonio Vespucio Liberti on Sunday. Both sides arrived on the back of wins. River were looking to pick up points after winning last match. Lanús, on the other hand, were able to continue their winning streak after a 1-0 win against Colón in their last match. Following today’s result, River are in 4th place, with 8 points from 5 matches, while Lanús sit in 18th, with 5 points from 5.

River looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Braian Romero, at 33 minutes to establish a 2-0. However, Lanús hit back though in the 35th minute, with a goal from Lautaro Acosta. The score at half time was 2-1. The second half ended with little further action at either end and goalless.

Substitutions for River included Ezequiel Barco, Agustin Palavecino, Juan Quintero and Santiago Simon for Nicolás De La Cruz, Braian Romero, Jose Paradela and Enzo Fernandez, repectively. Lanús brought on Samuel Careaga, Franco Orozco, Brian Aguilar, Agustín Rodriguez and Claudio Spinelli for Jose Sand, Tomas Belmonte, Leonel Di Placido, Lautaro Acosta and Lucas Varaldo.

The referee booked Braian Romero and Enzo Fernandez from River. Lanús had the worst of it though, with Matias Perez, Tomas Belmonte, Braian Nahuel Aguirre and Brian Aguilar seeing yellow, and Brian Aguilar (2 yellow cards) and Matias Perez then sent off with a red.
