Independiente 1 – Talleres 0: Visitors unable to get win at Libertadores de America

Talleres Córdoba fell to an away defeat at the hands of Independiente at Libertadores de America on Saturday. Independiente wanted to improve their league standing after a 1-1 draw against San Lorenzo. Talleres, on the other hand, had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 2-0 victory against CA Sarmiento. As things stand, Independiente are in 5th place, with 4 points from 2 matches, while Talleres sit in 9th, with 3 points from 2.

It was an impressive opening from Independiente, when Lucas Romero gave Independiente the lead in the 26th minute, saw out the first half 1-0. With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the match ended 1-0.

Substitutions for Independiente included Gaston Togni, Lucas Gonzalez and Joaquin Laso for Leandro Fernandez, Juan Cazares and Lucas Rodriguez, repectively. Talleres brought on Julian Malatini, Santiago Toloza, Rodrigo Garro and Angelo Martino, to replace Fernando Juarez, Matias Godoy, Matias Esquivel and Rafael Perez.

There were bookings for Leandro Fernandez and Lucas Gonzalez from Independiente, and Matias Esquivel and Fernando Juarez, for Talleres.

Independiente will play their next fixture away against Argentinos Juniors, while Talleres will face Newell’s Old Boys at home.
