Colón 2 – Unión 2: Honours even and points shared at Estadio Brigadier Estanislao Lopez

Colón were held to 2-2 draw by Unión down on Sunday at Estadio Brigadier Estanislao Lopez. Colón arrived with the intention of increasing their league score after a 1-1 draw against Atlético Tucumán while Unión lost 2-1 in the last match they played against CA Tigre. As it stands, Colón are in 15th place, with 2 points from 2 matches, while Unión sit in 22nd, with 1 point from 2.

It was an impressive opening from Unión, thanks to a goal from Mauro Luna in the 21st minute, saw out the first half 1-0.

Colón took the initiative in the second half, when Facundo Farias found the net, 69 minutes in. Colón looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Ramon Abila in the 84th minute to establish a 2-1. In the end though, their celebrations were kept brief, as Jonathan Alvez equalised for Unión just before the final whistle and saw the match end 2-2.

Substitutions for Colón included Luis Miguel Rodriguez, Juan Sanchez Mino and Lucas Acevedo for Andrew Teuten, Cristian Bernardi and Facundo Farias, repectively. Unión brought on Juan Nardoni, Lucas Angel Esquivel, Imanol Machuca and Matias Gallegos Panozzo, to replace Mauro Luna, Kevin Zenon, Federico Vera and Enzo Martin Roldan.

Colón and Unión played a rough game where the referee sanctioned Colón with yellow cards to Ramon Abila and Eric Meza and with red card to Facundo Garces, while from Unión Santiago Mele, Diego Polenta and Jonathan Alvez were booked and red to Juan Carlos Portillo.

Colón will next play River at home, with Unión facing Barracas Central away.
