Colón 1-0 River Plate: Visitors misfire in front of goal as Colón take the win

River fell to an away defeat at the hands of Colón at Estadio Brigadier Estanislao Lopez on Thursday. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Colón wanted to improve their league standing after a 2-2 draw against Unión Santa Fe. River, on the other hand, secured a point against Atlético Tucumán in their previous match. At the moment, Colón and River sit 5th, (5 points) and 25th, (2 points), in the table respectively, after 3 matches.

After a goalless first half, Colón applied pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Ramon Abila, 72 minutes in, leaving the final score at 1-0.

Both managers used all substitutions. Substitutions for Colón included Juan Pablo Alvarez and Brian Farioli for Santiago Pierotti and Facundo Farias, repectively, River brought on Braian Romero, Jose Paradela, Tomas Pochettino and Marcelo Herrera, to replace Santiago Simon, Ezequiel Barco, Nicolás De La Cruz and Emanuel Mammana.

The referee booked Lucas Acevedo for Colón.

Next up, Colón are away to Lanús, whilst River will travel to face Unión Santa Fe.
