Argentinos 2-1 Independiente: Hosts find a second-half winner to sink Independiente

Independiente on away loss to Argentinos at Diego Armando Maradona on Friday. Argentinos were hoping to get something from this game after losing their last match 1-0 to CA Sarmiento. Independiente had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 1-0 victory against Talleres Córdoba. As the table looks today, Argentinos are in 5th place in the table and have 6 points while Independiente sit in 12th with 4 points after 3 matches.

Argentinos dominated the first half, thanks to a goal from Thiago Nuss at the 21 minute mark. However, their lead was short lived, as Leandro Benegas equalised for Independiente just before halftime to see out the first half 1-1.

Argentinos started the second half with renewed vigour, when Fausto Vera found the net, 53 minutes in, leaving the final score at 2-1.

Substitutions for Argentinos included Matias Alejandro Galarza, Gaston Veron and Javier Cabrera for Franco Moyano, Gabriel Florentin and Thiago Nuss, repectively. Independiente brought on Juan Cazares and Joaquin Laso, to replace Alan Sonora and Gaston Togni.

There were bookings for Franco Moyano, Thiago Nuss and Fausto Vera from Argentinos. For Independiente, Lucas Rodriguez, Joaquin Laso, Leandro Fernandez and Sergio Barreto saw yellow.

Argentinos will next travel to Newell’s Old Boys, while Independiente will face Estudiantes La Plata at home.
