Aldosivi 1-2 Newell’s: Visitors ecstatic after holding on

Aldosivi on Wednesday lost to Newell’s Old Boys on a home defeat at Estadio Jose Maria Minella. Aldosivi were hoping to get something from this game, following defeat to Independiente. Newell’s were hoping to continue their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Gimnasia La Plata and Vélez Sarsfield. Aldosivi are now in 27th place on the table and have 13 points while Newell’s sit in 10th with 29 points after 19 matches.

It was an impressive opening from Newell’s, when Martin Cauteruccio gave them the lead in the 11th minute. The first half ended 1-0.

Newell’s continued to apply pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Juan Manuel Garcia found the net, 58 minutes in. Aldosivi in turn, then responded on the 73 minute mark, grabbing the lead with an effort from Patricio Boolsen. The match ended with a 2-1 victory for the visitors.

Substitutions for Aldosivi included Santiago Silva, Juan Manuel Cuesta, Tomas Martinez, Tomas Lecanda and Tobias Cervera for Matias Pisano, Jonathan Zacaria, Emanuel Iniguez, Javier Iritier and Leandro Maciel, respectively. Newell’s brought on Willer Ditta, Francisco Agustin Gonzalez, Guillermo Balzi and Nazareno Manuel Funez, to replace Juan Fernando Garro, Brian Nicolas Aguirre, Djorkaeff Reascos and Juan Manuel Garcia.

There were bookings for Leandro Maciel, Patricio Boolsen, Maciel and Tomas Martinez from Aldosivi. For Newell’s, Juan Manuel Garcia saw yellow.

Aldosivi will play away against Arsenal de Sarandi, while Newell’s will face CA Sarmiento at home.
